Background

The Boatshed Café is situated at 1A Heron Way in Hallett Cove, right on the foreshore overlooking Hallett Cove's beach of beautiful stones and at the entrance to the world-renowned Conservation Park.

Commencing in June 2023, $1.3 million upgrades will be transforming the Boatshed. The upgrades will include the installation of a new lift and stairs to improve access to the upper level and deliver improved views over the beach from a new dining area on the upper level.

Access to the building will also be improved with ramps and the widening of disabled amenities access points on the upper level. The life of the building will be extended through the enhancement of external cladding to coastal environment friendly materials.

How will this impact business?

The boatshed will remain open where possible throughout construction.

As of the 14th of June, it will be relocating the cafe to upstairs in the sugarloaf area whilst the lower cafe is being renovated. Access will be from the path at the end of the roundabout on Heron Way.

The sugarloaf is a beautiful space upstairs with great views. The deck area has a small undercover sheltered space and a large open area, along with a slightly larger inside space which is not as noisy as downstairs.

The takeaway kiosk area will remain open during this time.

The Boatshed will remain open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch, and Friday & Saturday nights for dinner (during summer hours)

If for any reason the Boatshed was not able to operate for a short time due to construction this would be communicated on the Boatsheds Facebook page and the onsite signs.

Parking Implications

The lower café car park will be closed during construction, which will generally occur Monday to Friday, 7 am to 5 pm.

Depending on the schedule of work, some parking may be available on weekends.
