January 2025 - Project Update
Following community consultation in early 2024, Stage 1 works at Gully Road Reserve are complete. Works included:
- Installation of new kerb ramps across Hill Street and Gully Road.
- Concrete path to connect Gully Road to the playground.
- Installation of a new concrete path parallel with the car park to replace the broken asphalt.
- Fencing along concrete path parallel to car park.
- Removal of the wooden post and rail fencing along the reserve edge in poor condition.
- Placement of bollards opposite Hill Street, in front of the playground.
Consultation for Stage 2 works
The Stage 2 design has been developed to keep a natural appearance and retain the existing character of the reserve. This was important to you in the feedback from the Stage 1 consultation. Stage 2 works will incorporate:
- Additional seating and biodiversity garden beds.
- Additional and renewed irrigation across both reserves.
- Fitness equipment.
- Additional tree planting
- New fencing adjacent the bus stop on Davenport Terrace
To maximise the amount of irrigation within the allocated budget, islands of biodiversity plantings under mature trees have been designed. This will allow a longer corridor of green irrigated turf across the reserves. The budget does not support irrigation from the basketball court to Arthur Street.
The construction of Stage 2 works is anticipated in 2025/26.
