Jacaranda Reserve, Oaklands Park
Background
Jacaranda Grove Reserve is a local level reserve which is scheduled for minor improvement works during the 24/25 financial year. This project was included in the City of Marion Open Space Plan.
The minor improvement works will include the refurbishment of the existing irrigation system with all new componentry.
Community Consultation
From 12 August – 5 September 2024, we asked the surrounding residents for feedback on what other minor facilities they would like to see within Council’s endorsed budget. The options included:
(a) a 1.5m wide concrete path connecting Jacaranda Grove with Mark Place or
(b) additional tree planting within the reserve or
(c) a picnic table or
(d) a seat
We received 9 responses to the survey. A total of 78% (7 respondents) would like a 1.5m wide shared use path connecting Jacaranda Grove with Mark Place. 11% (1 respondent) would like a picnic table and 11% (1 respondent) would like a seat.
Based on the information above, Council will plan for a shared use path, and if budget allows include a seat and picnic table. This project will now be progressed, with final designs, procurement and a notice of works to inform residents prior to construction. The project is anticipated to be completed by end June 2025.
