Background
The City of Marion is currently planning a playground upgrade at Southbank Boulevard Reserve, Sheidow Park. This project was identified as a key priority in the Open Space Plan 2024-2034.
The new playground design invites children into a vibrant, imaginative world that stimulates creativity and joy. The bright colours enhance cognitive development, helping children engage more deeply with their surroundings.
The design has increased the existing fenced area surrounding the playground (from 370m2 to 550m2), and has a new irrigated grass area within the fenced playground.
The planned upgrade will include:
- Fully fenced playground
- Main play structure with 3 slides and multiple climbing opportunities, different bridge crossings, junior shop front and play panel
- Swings
- Music play
- Accessible loop path for junior scooters and trikes
- New play equipment options
- Active recreation options
- Irrigated turf area inside fence
- Garden beds and tree planting
- Drink fountain
Note: Existing irrigated turf, pathways, lighting, seating, shelter, shade sail, basketball court and toilet will be retained as part of the upgrade.
